Tangerines
Inspired by @gardenscience’s Growing Lemons experiment, I took three big, plump seeds out of the tangerine I was eating and stuck them in containers of dirt. (It just seemed like a shame to waste them!)
The internet told me I should rinse them in bleach water first, but that seemed rather extreme to me. Instead, I thoroughly rinsed them all with clean water, and washed one with dish soap and one with hand soap.
Now they are in some nice damp soil in chopped-up water bottles on the shelf over the heater, we’re they’ll be nice and warm. When/if they germinate, I’ll move them to the windowsill for more light.
I must have patience.
Let’s see how this goes!
Baby pineapple! (Taken at the Huntington Museum of Art)
Pomegranate flower and fruit, conservatory at Huntington Museum of Art.
I wonder if pomegranates fruit and flower at the same time in the wild? Isn’t there a special word for that?
I liked the effect of the fruit that had split open on the vine, making visible the tasty seeds within.
